Area Sales Manager – Builders Merchants

About the role

The Area Sales Manager will lead sales activities for a leading independent builder’s merchant across Middlesbrough and the surrounding North East England region. You will be responsible for maintaining existing accounts and generating new business within the construction supplies market.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities with builders, contractors and trade customers.
• Promote a wide range of building products, including timber, doors, stair parts and landscaping materials.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing, meeting sales targets and profitability goals.
• Collaborate with branch teams to coordinate deliveries and service support.
• Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the construction supplies or builder’s merchant sector.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to understand customer needs.
• Full‑time availability, Monday to Friday.
