Area Sales Manager – Timber and Construction Products

About the role

The Area Sales Manager will lead field sales for a range of manufactured timber and construction products across South East England, Anglia and the southern East Midlands. You will be responsible for growing existing accounts and developing new business with builders merchants, timber merchants and buying groups.

Key responsibilities

• Visit customers on a four‑and‑a‑half‑day weekly travel schedule, with half a day for admin and home‑office work.
• Manage a portfolio of over 200 active accounts, handling order values from £12k to £250k.
• Deliver a 6‑12 week journey plan based on account value and territory size.
• Maintain responsibility for approximately 100,000 m³ of timber material.
• Build and nurture long‑term relationships with national, regional and independent merchants, as well as buying groups.

Required profile

• Proven field‑sales track record in timber or related building‑materials sectors.
• Experience selling to builders merchants, timber merchants or buying groups.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high‑value orders up to £250k.
• Strong interpersonal and autonomous working style.
• Excellent relationship‑building and account‑development capabilities.
