Area Tenancy Manager

About the role

The Area Tenancy Manager will lead the management of housing estates, ensuring safe communities, well‑managed tenancies and effective service delivery. The role combines office‑based training with a hybrid working pattern, three days in the office and the remainder remote.

Key responsibilities

• Maximise rental income, manage arrears and support tenants to sustain their tenancies.
• Oversee new lettings, sign‑ups and void turnaround to re‑let homes quickly.
• Provide day‑to‑day tenancy support, enforce agreements when needed and maintain a responsive service.
• Investigate low‑level anti‑social behaviour and resolve nuisance complaints.
• Manage the full tenancy lifecycle, including changes, succession and closures.
• Engage with residents and community groups to keep estates safe and well‑managed.
• Collaborate with police, community safety teams and support agencies on tenant issues.
• Identify vulnerable residents and refer them to safeguarding and support services.
• Ensure compliance with housing legislation, council policy and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in local authority housing, housing associations or similar housing management roles.
• Strong understanding of tenancy management, income collection and housing legislation.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to balance enforcement with supportive actions to sustain tenancies.
• Valid driver’s licence, car insurance for business use and eligibility for a basic DBS check.
