Arrears & Collection Specialist – Secured Lending

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Arrears & Collection Specialist to join our fast‑growing alternative SME lender. The role focuses on managing the full arrears and recovery lifecycle for secured, property‑backed loans, protecting the portfolio while maintaining fair treatment of borrowers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage loans from the first missed payment through to final resolution.
• Contact borrowers in arrears, assess circumstances and negotiate appropriate solutions.
• Execute formal arrears processes in line with FCA Consumer Duty requirements.
• Instruct and liaise with external solicitors on enforcement and legal actions.
• Oversee LPA receiver appointments and coordinate property recovery with receivers, solicitors and estate agents.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce regular portfolio recovery reports.
• Provide senior leadership with insights on arrears trends and credit performance.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in secured‑lending collections or recoveries.
• Background in bridging finance, specialist mortgages or commercial property finance.
• Proven ability to manage property‑backed loan cases through formal recovery processes.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent case‑management capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
