Art and Design SEN Teacher – Canterbury (Temporary)

About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Art and Design SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Canterbury. You will work four days a week delivering creative, inclusive lessons for pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them develop confidence and artistic skills.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated Art and Design lessons tailored to individual SEN profiles.
- Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and personal growth.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists and multidisciplinary staff to support each pupil’s learning plan.
- Assess progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies to meet academic and emotional needs.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Uphold safeguarding and SEN policies at all times.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Experience teaching children with SEN, particularly ASD, SEMH and complex needs.
- Strong classroom management and collaborative skills.
- Enhanced Child‑only DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Full legal right to work in the UK.
