Art Handling Technician

About the role

The Technician works closely with the Head Technician and full‑time technician and various stakeholders to safely handle, install, de‑install and pack Phillips property in line with sales, exhibitions and events. The role is based at our London gallery in Berkeley Square with travel to the London warehouse.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare works for display and organise safe pack‑up, storage and transfer to the warehouse after sale.
• Provide technical assistance to relevant departments during each sale or exhibition.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Ensure efficient use of packing materials and supplies.
• Perform other ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• Broad knowledge and experience of fine art handling, packing, transport and logistics.
• Experience of fine art logistics, transportation and warehousing practices.
• Experience working in a gallery or auction house environment.
• Excellent communication skills with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• Proven experience handling art safely and professionally.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training courses.
