Art Studio Assistant (Product Design)

About the role

Join the vibrant Art Department at Barton Peveril College as an Art Studio Assistant supporting the A Level Product Design course. You will work in a busy workshop environment, helping students bring their ideas to life using a range of modern equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support classes in the Product Design Workshop.
• Ensure safe operation of routers, band saws, 3D printers and laser cutters.
• Assist students with both 2D and 3D material preparation and fabrication.
• Maintain workshop cleanliness and organise tools and supplies.
• Collaborate with the Subject Leader for Product Design and a team of four studio assistants.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated and able to thrive in a fast‑paced studio setting.
• Strong practical knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Hard‑working, enthusiastic and flexible.

Required skills

• Experience operating routers, band saws, 3D printers and laser cutters.
• Competent IT skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety in a workshop environment.
