Art Teacher – Secondary School (Harlow)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Art Teacher to join a good‑rated secondary school in Harlow. You will work with students aged 11‑16, delivering a vibrant Creative Arts curriculum that encourages self‑expression and technical development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Art lessons for KS3 and KS4.
• Inspire students through practical projects, fostering creativity, critical thinking and confidence.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress to ensure strong attainment.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes experimentation with a variety of media and techniques.
• Collaborate with the Creative Arts department on curriculum development, exhibitions and extracurricular activities such as art clubs and competitions.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• A degree in Art, Fine Art, Art & Design or a closely related subject.
• Experience teaching Art across KS3 and KS4 in a secondary school setting.
• Demonstrated passion for the visual arts and ability to motivate young learners.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of a wide range of artistic media and techniques.
• Ability to design differentiated lessons that cater to varied skill levels.
• Effective classroom management and assessment skills.
