Art Technician

About the role

We are looking for a creative and organised Art Technician to join a vibrant secondary school in Newham. The role supports the Art Department by preparing resources, maintaining equipment and helping to create an inspiring learning environment for students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, organise and maintain materials, equipment and resources for practical art lessons.
• Support teachers during lessons by setting up and clearing away equipment.
• Ensure studios and storage areas are clean, safe and well‑ordered.
• Maintain specialist tools and machinery in line with health and safety regulations.
• Assist with the preparation and mounting of student artwork for displays and exhibitions.
• Monitor stock levels and order art supplies as required.
• Provide practical support to students during activities where appropriate.

Required profile

• Experience working in an art, design or creative environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of a range of art materials and techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive, reliable and enthusiastic attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding and supporting young learners.
• Previous school experience is desirable but not essential.
• Graduates in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Product Design or related subjects are encouraged to apply.
