ASD Teacher – Specialist SEND School (Southwark, London)

About the role

This full‑time, temp‑to‑perm position is based in a specialist SEND school in the London Borough of Southwark. The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional learning needs, offering a structured and inclusive environment where each student can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with ASD.
• Create structured learning environments that promote engagement, progress, and independence.
• Support the development of communication, social, and life‑skills through targeted activities.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to ensure a cohesive approach.
• Monitor individual progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet evolving needs.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching pupils with autism and additional SEND needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work in specialist SEND settings, ARP, or mainstream SEND provision.
• Patient, adaptable, reflective practitioner who builds positive relationships and maintains high expectations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder strategies and interventions.
• Ability to design and implement structured, sensory‑friendly classroom environments.
• Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and families.
