Asphalt Performance Manager

About the role

Tarmac is seeking an experienced Asphalt Performance Manager to join its National Performance team within Contracting. This senior‑level position will drive innovation, continuous improvement and operational excellence across the company’s asphalt and paving portfolio, supporting high‑specification projects and decarbonisation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop PaveTech solution opportunities with key customers and regional teams.
• Support strategic programmes such as the Roads of the Future initiative and broader decarbonisation projects.
• Evaluate new materials, suppliers, plant and equipment to enable future‑focused paving solutions.
• Promote a continuous‑improvement culture through coaching, mentoring and best‑practice implementation.
• Deliver targeted efficiency projects and sustain improvements in quality, service and operational performance.
• Use performance data and dashboards to challenge and improve business results at all organisational levels.
• Assist regional teams with high‑specification paving projects, including racetracks, airfields and low‑carbon demonstration schemes.
• Review and enhance operational processes, standards and the National Contracting Operational Handbook.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain partners to optimise plant, labour, haulage and resources while reducing delays.
• Champion safety by embedding policies, procedures and legislative requirements throughout the business.

Required profile

• Significant experience in asphalt performance management, paving technology and operational improvement.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change across a national operation.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on measurable business outcomes.
• Experience working on high‑specification projects and decarbonisation initiatives.
