Asphalt Technician

About the role

As a member of Breedon's Technical Team reporting to the Technical Manager, you will ensure that asphalt material and laying quality meet specification and performance requirements. The role involves work in a mobile UKAS‑accredited laboratory and on‑site at airfield projects across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Sample and test asphalt materials for mix properties and compliance with specifications at supply units and airfield sites.
• Carry out pavement quality testing and monitoring on‑site for a variety of asphalt types.
• Record and report against specification quality requirements for asphalt laying.
• Perform UKAS‑accredited laboratory testing on asphalt and aggregate materials both at supply‑unit labs and on‑site labs.
• Organise and liaise with in‑house technicians and third‑party technical service providers.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance with company policies and legal obligations.
• Complete ad‑hoc duties, tasks and projects as directed by management.

Required profile

• Practical, numerate and literate individuals willing to undertake training.
• Flexible, proactive and hands‑on approach to work.
• Effective communication, problem‑solving and IT skills.
• Ability to work confidently with customers and colleagues at all levels, both independently and as part of a team.
