Aspiring Child Counsellor

About the role
This full‑time, term‑time position supports vulnerable students aged 4‑19 in Addlestone. You will work directly with children and young people who have special educational needs (SEN) and a range of social, emotional and mental‑health challenges, helping them feel safe, motivated and capable of achieving their potential.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and assess risks and needs of students who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
- Provide consistent, compassionate counselling and pastoral support to improve engagement and attainment.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns promptly in line with school policies.
- Collaborate with teachers, families and external agencies to create supportive interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress.
Required profile
- Passion for helping children and young people achieve their full potential.
- Ability to build confidence, motivation and robust relationships with students.
- Resilience and calmness in stressful or conflict‑filled situations.
- GCSEs in English and Maths.
- Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
