Aspiring Child Counsellor / Learning Support Assistant (Burgess Hill)

About the role
This position offers recent graduates the chance to gain hands‑on experience supporting children and young people with complex special educational needs in a specialist foundation school. You will work alongside qualified staff to create a safe, empowering environment for pupils aged 2‑19.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and group support to pupils with autism spectrum conditions and profound learning difficulties.
- Assist in delivering tailored activities that promote confidence, motivation and social skills.
- Help maintain a calm and secure classroom atmosphere, especially during stressful situations.
- Support safeguarding procedures and ensure the wellbeing of all students.
- Participate in on‑site training, CPD sessions and regular supervision.
Required profile
- Passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.
- Resilient and able to stay calm under pressure.
- Excellent listener with strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to commute to Burgess Hill and work full‑time during term dates.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
Required skills
What we offer
- Day rate of £90‑£105 (PAYE), Monday‑Friday, 08:30‑15:30.
- Term‑time only contract with the possibility of extension.
