About the role
We are looking for an Aspiring Child Counsellor/SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision within a mainstream secondary school in Farnham. The role offers hands‑on experience supporting pupils with moderate learning difficulties, focusing on emotional regulation, wellbeing and therapeutic approaches.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Support emotional regulation and overall wellbeing.
- Assist with a personalised and flexible curriculum.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN professionals.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Help create a safe and supportive learning environment.
Required profile
- Individuals aiming to become a Child Counsellor.
- Teaching assistants or candidates with SEN experience.
- Candidates from care, youth work or support work backgrounds.
- Recent graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology.
- Passionate about children’s mental health and development.
- Able to commute to Farnham and have the right to work in the UK.
Required skills
What we offer
- Practical experience with SEN and SEMH pupils.
- Exposure to therapeutic approaches such as Thrive and emotional literacy support.
- Experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams.
- Foundation for careers in counselling, psychology or education.
- On‑site training, CPD and support.
- Monday‑Friday, 08:30‑16:30, term‑time only.
- PAYE contract with daily rate of £103‑£110.
