Aspiring Child Counsellor / SEN Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an Aspiring Child Counsellor/SEN Learning Support Assistant to work within a specialist provision at a mainstream primary school in Esher. The role offers hands‑on experience supporting pupils with profound and complex learning difficulties, focusing on emotional regulation, behaviour management and therapeutic approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs.
• Support emotional regulation and wellbeing through structured activities.
• Assist with a personalised and flexible curriculum.
• Collaborate closely with teachers and SEN professionals.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Help create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• Individuals aiming to become a Child Counsellor.
• Teaching Assistants or staff with SEN experience.
• Candidates from care, youth work, or support work backgrounds.
• Recent graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology.
• Anyone passionate about children’s mental health and development.
• Ability to commute to Esher.
