Aspiring Classics/Latin Teacher – Earn While You Train (Bushey)

About the role

This is a full‑time, term‑time only position for an aspiring Classics or Latin teacher in a secondary school in Bushey. You will be employed directly by the school from day one and will earn while you work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an optional PGCE.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver KS3‑4 lessons in Classics, Latin and related humanities subjects.
• Support the Humanities department with a focus on raising attainment.
• Carry out GCSE and A‑Level interventions to improve student outcomes.
• Teach an initial load of around 15 periods per week, increasing to about 20 periods.
• Attend one dedicated training day each week as part of the Schools Direct programme.

Required profile

• Graduate with a degree in Classics, Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Civilisation, Ancient History, English Literature, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Modern Languages, Medieval Studies, History, Archaeology, History of Art, Philosophy, Theology, Religious Studies or a related subject.
• Strong A‑Level and GCSE results.
• Motivation to become a qualified teacher and willingness to enrol in the Schools Direct route.
