Aspiring Psychologist – SEN Teaching Assistant (Special School)

About the role

We are looking for an aspiring psychologist to join a specialist special school in Sutton as a SEN Teaching Assistant. This temporary‑to‑permanent position offers hands‑on experience supporting children with complex additional needs, providing a solid foundation for future work in psychology, educational psychology, or mental‑health practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs.
• Assist small groups with learning activities and classroom engagement.
• Support teachers in lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Help pupils regulate emotions and manage behaviour.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Assist pupils during transitions, breaks and unstructured times.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate or recent graduate aspiring to a career in psychology or mental‑health fields.
• Strong interest in child development and SEN support.
• Patient, empathetic, resilient and able to work in a fast‑paced school environment.
• Previous experience in a school, care, or youth setting is desirable.
• Willingness to commit to a full‑time role in London.
