Aspiring Youth Worker

About the role
We are seeking an Aspiring Youth Worker to join our Alternative Provision College in Crawley. You will work directly with secondary‑aged students who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome trauma and adverse experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Support students with SEMH challenges alongside teachers and specialist staff.
- Identify risks and needs of vulnerable young people and escalate concerns when required.
- Build strong, trusting relationships to increase engagement, attainment and life chances.
- Provide consistent, therapeutic guidance that equips students with tools for safety, empowerment and success.
- Assist in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social and emotional wellbeing.
Required profile
- Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their full potential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in stressful or conflict‑filled situations.
- High levels of empathy, compassion and active listening.
- Motivated, enthusiastic and professional approach to work.
- Ability to commute to Crawley.
