Assessment Social Worker – Surrey Council

About the role

Our client, Surrey County Council, is seeking an Assessment Social Worker to join its Assessment team on a temporary full‑time basis. You will work directly with individuals, children, families and carers, helping them identify needs and plan appropriate support.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of diverse clients, providing professional guidance and support.
• Conduct proportionate assessments that maximise client participation.
• Provide accurate information, advice and sign‑posting in line with national legislation.
• Identify and act on safeguarding concerns, undertaking planning where required.
• Maintain high‑quality case records and adhere to data protection policies.
• Share knowledge with team members and, where appropriate, supervise non‑qualified staff.

Required profile

• Professional social work qualification and registration.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement on risk and make accountable decisions.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice.
• Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
