About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position supports the finance function of a small retail business in Leeds, delivering accurate management accounts and assisting with key accounting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes to aid financial planning.
• Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Assist with financial reporting and analysis for decision‑making.
• Maintain and update financial records in line with regulations.
• Collaborate with other departments to manage and control costs.
• Provide audit support by preparing necessary documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements within the accounting function.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for internal and external liaison.
• Proactive approach to workload management and meeting deadlines.
• Relevant accounting qualification or working towards one (advantageous).
