Assistant Accountant – Hybrid, Warrington

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing business in Birchwood, Warrington, to recruit an Assistant Accountant. The role sits within a supportive finance team and offers a blend of accounting and commercial exposure, allowing you to develop a broad skill set.

Key responsibilities

• Complete bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and process depreciation.
• Reconcile company credit cards and post journal entries.
• Prepare accruals, pre‑payments and revenue journals.
• Support month‑end and year‑end accounting processes.
• Monitor project costs from start to finish and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Process internal recharges and cost allocations.
• Work with operational teams to understand project performance and financial results.
• Assist with management accounts and provide financial analysis as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and support the finance team with ad‑hoc duties.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a finance role such as Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant or Finance Analyst.
• Good understanding of reconciliations, journal entries and month‑end processes.
• Confidence using Excel and finance systems.
• Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong relationship‑building attitude and proactive approach.
• Genuine willingness to learn and develop.
