Assistant Accountant

About the role

A growing, fast‑paced business in Leeds is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. The role offers exposure to a wide range of accounting duties and the chance to work closely with the Financial Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the purchase ledger and processing supplier invoices accurately.
• Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice queries.
• Preparing supplier payment runs.
• Assisting with credit control and monitoring outstanding customer balances.
• Supporting cash allocation and bank reconciliations.
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month‑end processes.
• Assisting with financial reporting and audit requirements.
• Collaborating with the wider finance team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience with month‑end tasks such as accruals and pre‑payments.
• Strong reconciliation skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident use of Excel and accounting software.
• Highly organised with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and proactive problem‑solving.
• Team player who enjoys collaborative work.
• Currently studying ACCA/CIMA or ready to commence.
