Assistant Accountant

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Process high volumes of purchase ledger invoices, raise sales invoices and credit notes, and allocate customer receipts and supplier payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and customer accounts, manage invoice queries and support credit control.
• Perform daily bank postings, cash reconciliations, monitor cash receipts and payments, and assist with cash‑flow reporting.
• Support month‑end close by preparing journal entries, accruals, balance‑sheet reconciliations and fixed‑asset registers.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts, budgeting, reporting and ad‑hoc financial analysis.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or Assistant Accountant.
• Strong understanding of transactional accounting processes and attention to detail.
• Good working knowledge of Excel, including formulas and data analysis.
• Highly organised, able to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
• Studying or intending to study AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
