Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in a successful manufacturing environment. This temporary role offers a clear pathway to a permanent position and provides the chance to develop month‑end and management accounting skills.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting day‑to‑day purchase and sales ledger processing
• Processing and reconciling cash and bank transactions, including bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with supplier payments, invoice queries and month‑end activities
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals and pre‑payments
• Investigating discrepancies and supporting accurate financial information
• Collaborating with site colleagues to resolve finance queries and improve processes

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in an Accounts/Finance Assistant or similar role
• AAT qualified or studying towards AAT, or early stage CIMA/ACCA
• Comfortable with transactional finance – AP, AR and bank reconciliations
• Keen to develop month‑end and management accounting knowledge

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with a large ERP system such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics 365
