Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the finance team of a growing energy group operating across the UK and Ireland. The role will involve month‑end accounting, budgeting and cost‑centre support, ensuring accurate financial reporting and data integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end journals, pre‑payments, accruals, provisions and other balance‑sheet entries; reconcile inter‑company balances and support settlement processes.
• Assist with management accounts preparation, variance analysis and commentary; complete balance‑sheet reconciliations to a high standard.
• Collate inputs for business plans, support budget and forecast submissions, and contribute to weekly and monthly cash‑flow forecasting.
• Prepare actuals and forecasts for central cost centres, manage purchase requisitions and receipting of goods/services, and provide training to non‑finance users.

Required profile

• Strong Excel skills and analytical capability.
• Experience in a multi‑entity finance environment (preferred) and exposure to the energy or manufacturing sector (beneficial).
• Organised, high attention to detail and strong problem‑solving ability.
• Clear communicator with relationship‑building skills; collaborative team player with a proactive attitude.
