Assistant Accountant – Motor Trade (Hybrid, £30-35k)

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a growing automotive retail group. Working closely with the Multi‑Site Dealership Accountant, you will support the finance function across several dealership locations and develop your management accounting skills in a commercial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts for multiple sites.
• Prepare and post journals, including accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Help with budgeting and forecasting across the dealership network.
• Analyse financial performance, produce reports and add commentary for senior managers.
• Provide financial insight to General Managers, Sales Managers and Aftersales managers.
• Identify trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting, controls and processes.
• Undertake ad‑hoc financial analysis and project work as required.

Required profile

• Experience in a franchised motor‑trade accounting environment.
• Previous role as an Assistant Accountant or similar within a dealership group.
• Proven ability to prepare journals, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Exposure to management accounts, budgeting and forecasting.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of Kerridge, CDK Drive or Pinnacle dealer management systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
