Assistant Accountant – £33k-£36k + Study Support in Bolton

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a profitable, fast‑growing SME with a £20m turnover. This is an excellent opportunity for someone 6‑12 months into their accountancy career who wants accelerated development and mentorship from a forward‑thinking Finance Director.

Key responsibilities

• Process all transactional finance tasks including purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare VAT returns, accruals, pre‑payments and month‑end reporting.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Assist with the implementation of a new accounting system.
• Progress into management accounting and value‑added reporting as experience grows.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or AAT Level 3 (minimum) with ambition to pursue ACCA or CIMA.
• 6‑12 months experience in transactional accounting or bookkeeping, either in practice or industry.
• Proactive, calm approach to learning new tasks and solving problems.

Required skills

• Strong Excel skills.
• Good overall IT confidence.
