Assistant Accountant – Stock & Cost Management

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Liverpool city centre. You will work within a small, supportive team handling high‑value inventory accounting, month‑end close and management reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support accounting and reporting of inventory throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly stock reconciliations.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and maintain accurate stock records.
• Maintain inventory‑related general ledger accounts.
• Assist with month‑end close, journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce financial analysis on stock, margins and cost of sales.
• Support year‑end audit requirements and statutory reporting.
• Contribute to ERP and finance system improvement projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls across finance.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified CIMA, ACCA, AAT or QBE.
• Experience in manufacturing, retail or product‑based environments with stock accounting exposure.
• Confident using Excel and analysing financial data.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive team player who enjoys process improvement.
• Effective communicator able to build cross‑department relationships.
