About the role
The Assistant Board Secretary provides high‑quality secretarial and administrative support to the Board of a public‑sector organisation focused on equality and human rights. Working closely with Board and Committee Chairs, you will help ensure governance processes run smoothly and decisions are well documented.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, paper commissioning, logistics and minute taking.
- Quality‑assure all Board and Committee documentation to ensure accuracy, conciseness and compliance with governance standards.
- Advise senior colleagues on governance requirements, paper preparation and meeting processes.
- Maintain and regularly update corporate governance policies and related documentation.
- Build effective relationships across departments to facilitate communication and alignment of priorities.
- Identify and drive continuous‑improvement opportunities within governance processes.
Required profile
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience producing accurate formal minutes.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
- Proven experience coordinating meetings, agendas, papers and follow‑up actions.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
