Assistant Building Surveyor (London)

About the role

Brandon James Ltd is a growing London consultancy seeking an Assistant Building Surveyor to broaden project experience, take on greater responsibility and work towards chartership. You will join a close‑knit team delivering services across commercial offices, residential blocks and education properties, gaining direct exposure to clients, contractors and senior decision‑makers.

Key responsibilities

• Support projects from initial surveys and feasibility studies through to tender, construction and completion.
• Assist with contract administration under JCT contracts.
• Carry out measured, condition and building surveys.
• Prepare specifications, schedules of work and support tender analysis.
• Attend meetings, conduct site inspections and produce defect diagnosis reports.
• Contribute to dilapidations, party‑wall instructions and maintenance programmes.
• Maintain APC records and complete structured training.

Required profile

• RICS‑accredited Building Surveying degree.
• At least 12 months of relevant consultancy experience.
• Clear intention to achieve chartered status.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
