Assistant Buyer - New Categories

About the role

As an Assistant Buyer in the New Categories squad at Currys, you will support the launch of emerging technology products in our London campus. Working closely with suppliers, brand partners and internal teams, you will help build product ranges, negotiate pricing and drive promotional activity to maximise margin and sales.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Buyer/Senior Buyer with supplier negotiations aligned to the category strategy.
• Source and develop new product ranges, agreeing cost prices and commercial terms.
• Secure promotional funding and manage pricing to meet margin and CPI targets.
• Monitor competitor activity and adjust pricing to stay competitive.
• Analyse trading performance data and recommend actions to improve sales and profitability.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years experience in a buying function or buying administration role.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of customer needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Highly organised with the ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
