Assistant Chef – Care Home Kitchen (Peterlee)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Chef to join our kitchen team at Birchwood Court, a Sanctuary Care home in Peterlee. You will help prepare nutritious, restaurant‑quality meals for residents while enjoying a balanced work schedule with no late nights or split shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chef Manager in preparing varied, high‑quality menus.
• Maintain food hygiene and safety standards at all times.
• Carry out risk assessments and keep the kitchen clean and safe.
• Engage daily with residents, visitors and colleagues in a friendly manner.
• Support a positive dining experience for everyone.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a catering or hospitality kitchen.
• Valid food hygiene certificate.
• Friendly, approachable and passionate about good food.
• Team‑player who can work well under the Chef Manager’s guidance.
• Commitment to high standards of safety and care.
