Assistant Chef

About the role

Busy Bees is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join the kitchen team at its Swindon nursery. You will help prepare nutritious meals that support the growth and development of young children in a caring, early‑years environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the head chef in planning and cooking balanced meals for up to 100 children.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Prepare ingredients, portion meals, and ensure timely service.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace.
• Support inventory checks and stock replenishment.

Required profile

• Passion for cooking and delivering healthy food for children.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Reliability and willingness to work full‑time onsite.

Required skills

• Basic food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Understanding of nutrition for early‑years children.
• Knowledge of food hygiene regulations.
