Assistant Claims Manager

About the role

Avencia Consulting is seeking an experienced Marine Liability Claims professional to step into a newly created Assistant Claims Manager position. You will lead a small team while handling a portfolio of high‑value, complex marine liability claims and influencing strategy across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of three Marine Liability Claims professionals.
• Oversee complex primary and excess marine liability claims, providing coverage guidance, reserving and escalation support.
• Monitor delegated claims arrangements, service standards and KPIs.
• Liaise between London and Leeds claims operations, allocating work and managing workflow.
• Produce claims reporting, trend analysis and reserving information for senior stakeholders.
• Support business planning and contribute to broader claims and underwriting strategy.
• Maintain strong broker relationships and deliver market‑leading service.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Significant experience handling Marine Liability claims within the London Market.
• Proven ability to manage high‑value, international, multi‑party claims.
• Leadership experience or clear potential to lead and develop a team.
• Strong knowledge of Lloyd’s and Company Market claims processes.
• Experience managing delegated claims arrangements and external vendors.
• Excellent broker relationship and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret and present claims data.
