Assistant Client Manager / Senior Accountant

About the role

This position sits at the intersection of technical accounting and client management within a growing boutique practice. Working closely with a partner, you will manage a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses while maintaining hands‑on involvement in statutory account preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of SME and owner‑managed clients across multiple sectors.
• Prepare statutory accounts and review work produced by junior accountants.
• Support the partner in daily workflow planning, deadline management and team capacity monitoring.
• Ensure assignments are delivered accurately, efficiently and on schedule.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering long‑term relationships and providing practical advice.
• Coach and develop junior staff through regular reviews and technical guidance.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service quality.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to support the practice’s growth objectives.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience) with solid UK practice experience.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts for SMEs and owner‑managed businesses.
• Confidence reviewing the work of others while being willing to prepare accounts personally when needed.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple assignments.
• Strong client‑relationship capabilities.
