Assistant Cook

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Cook to join the catering team at Chilworth House Upper School in Wheatley. You will work 32 hours per week, preparing nutritious meals for students, staff and visitors while supporting the school’s commitment to healthy eating.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold meals in line with the school’s menu.
• Follow food hygiene standards and health‑and‑safety procedures at all times.
• Develop varied menus that encourage pupils to try new foods.
• Plan meals taking into account specific dietary requirements and allergies.
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a professional catering or kitchen setting (competent home cooks are also considered).
• Ability to start in September 2026 and work a 32‑hour week.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food safety.
• Willingness to work as part of a school team and support inclusive meals for diverse learners.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food hygiene regulations.
• Basic menu planning and portion control.
• Understanding of dietary requirements and allergen management.
