Assistant Director – Adult Social Care (Contract)

About the role

The Local Authority in Greater London seeks an Assistant Director to lead adult social care services on a contract basis. Working hybrid, you will provide strategic direction and operational leadership across Home First and Provider Services, influencing borough‑wide care strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Set strategic direction and oversee day‑to‑day operations for adult social care services.
• Manage a budget of approximately £12 million, ensuring financial stewardship.
• Represent the Council on partnership boards, strategic forums and external meetings.
• Lead improvement programmes for hospital discharge, re‑ablement, occupational therapy, home adaptations and provider services.
• Shape and influence borough‑wide adult social care policy and service development.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large‑scale adult social care services.
• Proven track record of managing complex service transformation and improvement programmes.
• Experience overseeing multidisciplinary, integrated health and social care teams.
• Extensive background in managing large budgets, resources and workforce functions.

• Daily rate of £700 (inside IR35).
