Assistant Ecologist – Milton Keynes

About the role
The Assistant Ecologist will join a supportive team in Milton Keynes, working on a varied portfolio of development and infrastructure projects. This permanent position offers hands‑on experience across ecological surveys, appraisals and reporting, providing a solid foundation for a consultancy career.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out habitat and protected‑species surveys on site.
- Prepare ecological appraisals and contribute to impact assessments.
- Collect, manage and analyse ecological data.
- Draft clear, concise reports for clients and regulators.
- Support senior ecologists throughout project lifecycles, from inception to completion.
Required profile
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence.
- Residence within reasonable commuting distance of Milton Keynes.
- Strong written communication and organisational abilities.
- Motivation to develop a long‑term career in ecological consultancy.
Required skills
- Ecological survey methods and field data collection.
- Habitat assessment and protected‑species identification.
- Ecological report writing.
