Assistant Employment Advisor

About the role

We are recruiting for a local authority in Bexleyheath to provide assistance to adult job seekers on their path to sustainable employment. Working alongside senior Employment Advisors and the Employer Engagement Team, you will deliver employability support, run workshops and help match candidates with suitable vacancies.

Key responsibilities

• Support Employment Advisors and the Employer Engagement Team in preparing residents for job opportunities.
• Deliver one‑to‑one appointments, employability workshops, introductory sessions and job‑search support activities.
• Provide information on employment support programmes and ensure accurate client onboarding paperwork.
• Motivate clients with guidance on vacancies, work‑experience placements and pre‑employment training.
• Assist clients in creating and updating CVs and uploading profiles to online job platforms.
• Facilitate group and individual sessions covering CV writing, online job searching, application forms, interview techniques and job‑club activities.
• Arrange interviews, refer clients to training courses and support attendance at vacancy sessions.
• Collaborate with the Employer Engagement Team to identify suitable candidates for live vacancies.
• Maintain accurate records and update case‑management systems in line with funding and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Experience supporting individuals into employment through return‑to‑work, welfare‑to‑work, employability or recruitment programmes.
• Background in delivering customer support, coaching, advice or workshop‑based activities.
• Confidence working with vulnerable, disengaged or resistant clients and helping them overcome barriers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a diverse range of people.

• Pay rate of £15.00 per hour (PAYE) or £19.43 per hour (Umbrella contract).
• Full‑time temporary assignment with a local authority.
• Office‑based role in central Bexleyheath.
