Assistant Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an organised and detail‑focused Assistant Financial Accountant to join a busy finance team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Working closely with the Financial Commercial Manager, you will support day‑to‑day financial operations across multiple areas.

Key responsibilities

• Match and process purchase invoices using Sage 50.
• Process sales invoices, credit notes and customer receipts.
• Support aged creditor and debtor management and assist with credit control.
• Administer weekly clocking hours, weekly wages and monthly salaries.
• Maintain payroll, personnel and Sage HR records.
• Reconcile supplier statements and prepare weekly BACS payments.
• Maintain and reconcile banking facilities.
• Provide telephone support and handle queries professionally.
• Cover for the Financial Commercial Manager and the wider team during absences.
• Perform general administration, filing and archiving.

Required profile

• Full AAT qualification or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years’ experience within a finance team.
• Previous payroll experience (essential).
• Confident use of Sage 50 and accurate financial record‑keeping.
• Organised, methodical with excellent attention to detail.
• Flexible, hard‑working and able to support across the team.
• Professional discretion with confidential finance and personnel information.
• Additional qualifications or willingness to pursue them is advantageous.
