Assistant Financial Controller (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to join the finance team in West Malling. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support day-to-day financial operations, budgeting and reporting while ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The role is hybrid, offering a balance of office collaboration and remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and payroll for approximately 100 employees.
• Prepare month-end profit and loss statements, balance sheets and ensure accurate reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, extended trial balances and year-end accounts.
• Maintain pre-payment and accrual schedules and reconcile stock at month-end.
• Process fortnightly payment runs and quarterly VAT returns.
• Post journals for intercompany loans and expenses and support audit activities.
• Conduct financial analysis to aid decision-making.

Required profile

• Working towards a CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualification.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Financial Controller or in a similar finance role.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and GAAP.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel for financial modelling.
• Experience with financial management systems, preferably SAGE Intacct.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
