Assistant Head of School

About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced education professional to join a specialist setting as an Assistant Head of School. Working closely with the Head of School, you will help shape teaching, learning, behaviour, attendance and safeguarding, fostering an inclusive environment where every young person can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Support high‑quality teaching and learning across the provision.
• Lead behaviour, attendance and pastoral initiatives.
• Coach and develop teaching and support staff.
• Collaborate with families and external professionals.
• Support safeguarding procedures and multi‑agency working.
• Monitor pupil progress and contribute to school improvement planning.
• Help create a positive, inclusive and aspirational learning culture.

Required profile

• Experience in education leadership or middle‑leadership capacity.
• Strong knowledge of SEND, SEMH or inclusive educational practice.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Experience supporting staff development and improving teaching practice.
• Calm, resilient and child‑centred approach.
• Genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people.
