Assistant Headteacher / SENCO (SEND School)

About the role
This permanent position offers an ambitious education professional the chance to join the senior leadership team of a thriving SEND school near Atherstone. You will work closely with the Headteacher to shape strategic direction and ensure high‑quality, personalised support for pupils with additional learning needs.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision, ensuring it aligns with the school’s strategic goals.
- Oversee EHCP implementation, annual reviews and all statutory processes.
- Support teachers in delivering inclusive, high‑impact classroom practice.
- Monitor pupil progress and develop personalised learning pathways.
- Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
- Lead staff training and contribute to professional development across the school.
- Promote a culture of inclusion, safeguarding and high expectations.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- The National Award for SEN Coordination or an equivalent recognised SENCO qualification.
- Significant experience working within a SEND setting.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCPs and inclusive practice.
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- A passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.
- Previous Assistant Headteacher experience is desirable but not essential.
