Assistant Headteacher (SEND) – Primary School

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Headteacher to lead our SEND primary school, driving improvement and ensuring high-quality education and care for all pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Support strategic leadership and school development.
• Lead school improvement initiatives and curriculum development.
• Promote excellence in teaching, learning, behaviour and pupil progress.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff.
• Champion inclusive practice and maintain high standards of SEND provision.
• Build strong partnerships with families, external agencies and professionals.
• Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing of pupils and staff.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).
• Proven leadership experience in a SEND or specialist setting.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCPs and inclusive practice.
• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning difficulties.
• Track record of raising standards and improving outcomes.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
• Passion, resilience and vision to inspire others.
