Assistant Lawyer

About the role

Keoghs LLP is seeking an Assistant Lawyer to support a Complex Disease Lawyer in managing and progressing complex disease claims. The role involves a mix of legal research, document handling and client liaison to achieve successful outcomes while maintaining profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Review documents and prepare detailed reports.
• Handle disclosure and review evidence, including medical and personnel records.
• Conduct investigations, obtain witness statements and liaise with insured parties.
• Instruct counsel and experts, and attend conferences and trials.
• Draft correspondence, manage routine communications and attend court appointments.
• Ensure adherence to court timetables and compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011.

Required profile

• Technically proficient in handling mixed disease cases.
• Effective negotiator with strong initiative.
• Flexible, detail‑oriented and able to self‑organise and prioritise.
• Capable of working under pressure and meeting targets.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking and possesses good verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• IT proficiency.
