Assistant Lawyer

About the role

To support a Complex Disease Lawyer in managing and progressing claims, ensuring strategies deliver desired outcomes for clients while maintaining profitability. The Assistant will work on a variety of complex disease cases.

Key responsibilities

• Review documents and prepare reports, including disclosure and evidence review.
• Conduct investigations, obtain witness statements, and liaise with insured parties.
• Instruct counsel and experts, attend conferences and trials, and manage routine correspondence.
• Handle court appointments, ensure adherence to timetables, and comply with the SRA Code of Conduct 2011.
• Maintain communication with insurers and insureds, and support the Complex Disease Lawyer throughout case progression.

Required profile

• Technically proficient in handling mixed disease cases.
• Effective negotiator with strong initiative and flexibility.
• Excellent listening, verbal communication, and attention to detail.
• Ability to self‑organise, prioritise, and work under pressure to meet targets.
• Enthusiastic, hardworking, and good IT competency.
