Assistant Maintenance Workshop Controller

About the role

United Utilities is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Workshop Controller to support the Transport Services team in keeping a fleet of over 2,300 assets, including around 300 HGVs, safe, compliant and operational. The role is hands‑on, based in the Winsford workshop, and offers the chance to develop technical expertise while contributing to the reliability of critical utility services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly health and safety inspections in the workshop and act on findings.
• Ensure fleet availability by meeting VOR targets and maintenance compliance obligations.
• Carry out maintenance on HGVs, trailers, plant equipment and light commercial vehicles.
• Achieve service KPIs and maintain MOT pass rates for all assets.
• Mentor apprentices, allocate workloads, and manage workflow to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical guidance on complex diagnostics as the subject‑matter expert.
