Assistant Management Accountant – Hybrid (Leeds)

About the role

This is a hybrid Assistant Management Accountant position based in Leeds, supporting two senior Management Accountants. The role is designed for an early‑career finance professional who wants structured progression toward a Management Accountant qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly period‑end close and preparation of management accounts for all group companies.
• Analyse monthly cost of sales, prepare accruals and variance reports against forecasts.
• Prepare journals, balance‑sheet reconciliations and regular month‑end journal entries.
• Maintain pre‑bill records, investigate sales deferral items and historic cost‑of‑sales accruals.
• Reconcile all bank accounts on a weekly basis.
• Support quarterly VAT returns and reconcile company Pleo, Cledara and credit‑card accounts.
• Assist with the year‑end audit and production of statutory financial statements.
• Collaborate with the audit team to meet strict group timelines.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year recent experience in a finance role.
• Understanding of profit & loss statements and competence in double‑entry bookkeeping.
• Ambition to progress to a qualified Management Accountant (studying AAT, ACCA, CIMA or recent graduate).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Right to work in the UK and live within commuting distance of Leeds.
