Assistant Management Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team in Milton Keynes. You will help deliver accurate financial information, support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to business decisions across our retail‑focused weighing and labelling solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by gathering data from operational teams.
• Maintain and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts to ensure completeness.
• Prepare and analyse financial reports that provide insight into performance.
• Monitor costs against company objectives and industry standards.
• Help compile information for internal and external audits.
• Support VAT and other statutory compliance activities.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation projects.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or working towards qualification.
• Experience in a management accounting role, preferably in retail or a related sector.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, controls and reporting standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Effective communication and the ability to work across departments.
• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel
• Experience with accounting software
• Familiarity with ERP systems (advantageous)
